Fumaric acid is a vital organic chemical raw material and fine chemical intermediate. As a key derivative of maleic anhydride, it is widely applied in food, coatings, resins and plasticizers. In the food sector, it serves as an acidulant for soft drinks, wine, cold beverages, fruit juice concentrates, canned fruits, pickles and ice cream. Used as an acidic component in solid beverage gas generators, it delivers stable foam and fine texture.

Product Application
Fumaric acid is used to produce unsaturated polyester resins with strong chemical and heat resistance. Its copolymer with vinyl acetate is a high‑performance adhesive, and its styrene copolymer is used for fiberglass materials. Non‑toxic fumaric acid plasticizers are suitable for food‑contact vinyl acetate latex. It is an intermediate for pharmaceuticals, optical brighteners and other fine chemicals. It reacts with sodium carbonate to form sodium fumarate, which further reacts with ferrous sulfate to produce ferrous fumarate, used to treat iron‑deficiency anemia. As a food acidulant, it is used in soft drinks, confectionery, jelly and ice cream, often blended with citric acid. Its monosodium salt serves as a sour seasoning, and it is also used in synthetic resin production and as a mordant.
