Erucic acid amide is a premium-grade fatty acid amide and one of the key derivatives of erucic acid, refined from vegetable oils. It is a waxy, odorless solid that is insoluble in water, while showing certain solubility in organic solvents including ketones, esters, alcohols, ethers, and benzene. Featuring a long unsaturated C22 chain and a polar amide group in its molecular structure, it offers outstanding surface polarity, a high melting point, and strong thermal stability. It can substitute for other similar additives and is widely applied in plastics, rubber, printing, machinery, and other industries. As a processing agent for polyolefin plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, it imparts anti-blocking properties, improves lubricity, and enhances the thermoplasticity and heat resistance of finished products. This product is non-toxic and has been approved for use in food packaging materials in many countries. When added to rubber compounds, it improves gloss, tensile strength, and elongation, accelerates vulcanization, boosts wear resistance, and effectively prevents sunlight-induced cracking. In inks, it enhances adhesion, scratch resistance, anti-offset performance, and dye solubility. Additionally, erucamide serves as a surface polish for waxed paper, a protective coating for metals, and a foam stabilizer in detergent formulations.
