Description

Ketoconazole is a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal agent. It acts with high selectivity by interfering with fungal cytochrome P-450 activity, thereby blocking the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes. It works against both superficial and deep fungal infections. It not only restricts fungal growth but also prevents spores from turning into mycelium to stop further infection. It inhibits microbes at low concentrations and exerts fungicidal effects at high concentrations. It shows activity against Candida, Chromomyces, Coccidioides, Histoplasma, Sporothrix, and Trichophyton species. Clinically, it is used to treat tinea manuum, tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, thrush, tinea versicolor, and cutaneous candidiasis.Ketoconazole

Product Application

Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal medicine. It is widely used to treat athlete’s foot and severe dandruff. As a broad-spectrum antifungal compound and a CYP3A4 inhibitor, it is prescribed for candidiasis, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, oral thrush, candiduria, blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, chromomycosis, and paracoccidioidomycosis. It is also used to assess P-glycoprotein/CYP3A-limited bioavailability in monkey models, study interleukin 1-mediated antitumor activity, and investigate in vivo drug–drug interactions.
