Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC, CAS 9000-11-7) industrial-grade product has a purity of 99% and above. It appears as a white to off-white, odorless powder that is non-flammable. Its melting point is 300℃, boiling point is 527.1℃. Vapor pressure is 2.59E-13kPa at 25℃, relative density is 1.45g/cm³ at 20℃. When added to water, it swells to form a suspension and is insoluble in most organic solvents. It remains stable under normal conditions but is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
