Description

Product Details
Dichloromethane is a colorless liquid with an ethereal yet penetrating odor. It mixes well with alcohol and ether and is slightly soluble in water, making it an excellent solvent and a highly versatile chemical. It has been widely used in industry as a solvent and paint remover, in medicine as an inhalation anesthetic, and in agriculture as a growth regulator and fertilizer. At high concentrations, it has narcotic effects and is considered carcinogenic. Inhalation may irritate the nose and throat and impact the central nervous system.Dichloromethane

Product Application of Dichloromethane CAS#75-09-2
House Hold Uses
This chemical is used in bathtub refinishing projects. It is also widely employed in industrial manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, coating removers, and processing solvents.
Industrial and Manufacturing Uses
DCM serves as a key solvent in varnish and paint removers, used to strip coatings from many material surfaces. In pharma manufacturing, DCM helps produce cephalosporin and ampicillin medicines.
Food and Beverage Manufacturing
It acts as an extraction solvent in food and drink production. For example, DCM decaffeinates green coffee beans and tea leaves. It also extracts hops for beer, makes food flavors, and processes spices.
Transportation Industry
DCM degreases metal components in rail systems, aircraft, and automotive parts. It helps remove gaskets and prepare surfaces for new seals. Vapor-phase DCM degreasing is widely used to clean car parts, spacecraft, aircraft, and diesel engines efficiently and safely.
Medical Industry
In labs, DCM extracts active compounds from plants and foods for antibiotics, steroids, and vitamins. It also safely cleans heat-sensitive medical devices without corrosion or damage.
Photographic Films
DCM dissolves cellulose triacetate (CTA), which is used to make safe photographic film. As DCM evaporates, CTA fibers form the film base.
Electronic Industry
DCM is used in printed circuit board production. It cleans and degreases substrate foils before applying photoresist layers.
